Dr P. V. Madhusudhanan, Founder and Chief Physician of Sreechithra Ayurveda Hospital, is a highly respected Ayurvedic practitioner with over three decades of experience. Born into the renowned Perumballissery family, with a legacy of more than 400 years in Ayurveda, he continues to uphold the principles of authentic healing with dedication and expertise. He completed his BAMS from Kottakkal Arya Vaidya College, followed by a Master’s in Kaumarabhrithyam (Paediatrics) from Thiruvananthapuram Ayurveda Medical College. After post-graduation, he served as Senior Professor and Head of Department at Government Ayurveda College, Ollur, where he played a vital role in advancing Ayurvedic education and practice. Known for his patient-centric approach, Dr Madhusudhanan designs personalised treatment plans based on each individual’s unique condition. His expertise covers arthritis, diabetes, respiratory disorders, digestive issues, skin diseases, and more, with a particular specialisation in developmental disorders in children. A respected Ayurvedic scholar, he has published a thesis on eczema in children and actively contributes to research, seminars, and practitioner training programmes. This beach resort offers a serene escape to connect with Ayurveda, nature, and the ocean. The nearby beach feels endless and untouched, adding to its charm. The property is well-maintained, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. My stay felt like a personal journey, allowing me to focus inward. Treatments and meals were thoughtfully customized, and the masseurs were skilled and disciplined. However, while nourishing, the food tended to be neutral in flavor. During my 8-day stay, I had consultations with the chief doctor at the beginning and end. There was no ongoing monitoring or deep discussion of symptoms in between. Casual check-ins by junior doctors didn’t quite make up for the lack of formal engagement. The service was responsive, but follow-ups were often needed for simple requests like towels, room service, or laundry, which disrupted the otherwise calm environment. Additionally, the management's lack of transparency, such as dropping me at the train station two hours early for their convenience, undermined my trust. The presence of bugs in the room further impacted my comfort. While the resort aims for authenticity in its Ayurvedic approach, it could improve with more structured consultations, better cleanliness, smoother, more proactive service and communication to better meet guest expectations, particularly for Western visitors.
